With great pleasure I am going to tell you about Casale Plini, a brand new winery located in the municipality of Montefalco (PG), born just over a year ago on the initiative of Agostino Plini and his wife Francesca Giglio. The project was started by taking over the old company of Agostino’s father and focuses on the enhancement of the wines that have made the area great, with the sumptuous Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG in primis and the Montefalco Rosso DOC – still in the process of maturing in the cellar – flanked by an Umbria Rosso IGT called “MoRU”, which I am going to tell you about in the article. MoRU is produced with 70% Sangiovese grapes combined with 30% Montepulciano from the oldest vineyard planted in 1968, which gives few but excellent fruits. Grape harvest carried out in different periods according to the level of ripeness. The use of steel guarantees maximum varietal expression.
